THE COVER UP

 So we were meant to continue THE REVELATIONS OF A POPULAR BLOGGER series today, however, there is a more significant story that needs to be told and because of the gravity of this said story, REVELATIONS OF A POPULAR BLOGGER  has been moved to next week.

               

               

          What really is the cause of the increased sex drive in college students? Is it the flock of girls in skimpy dresses and makeup adorned faces?  Or is it the ripped abs on display in most male hostels except Tedder hall of course, one barely sees ripped bodies on display there? Or is it just nature?

               
             To what extent do we have to go to satisfy such sex drive? Paid sex? Drug or alcohol induced sex? Rape? Or Statutory Rape?

This story is currently one that is difficult for us to report as it is still unfolding and according to our sources, people do not want this story to be told or spoken of outside the confines of the hall. So no jokes shall be told in between.

          Today’s story is centered around sex and is set in the halls of the Living ones or as they are often known by girls, the home of free dinner (Oluchi) and chicken and chips.

              
              Well, it is the norm of women selling goods in hostels to ask their daughters and sons to help out in the sale of these goods. So it was no surprise that when a “D-blockite” of this famous hall asked to buy bread, and the woman selling goods sent her daughter to deliver it.  Do not get the wrong image, this was not a mother setting her daughter up for disaster, the mother must have thought it harmless to send her daughter, a minor-not up to fifteen years of age, to deliver bread to a boy’s room in D-block. A boy that one would easily assume was of mature mind and sane thinking.

             
              It was however weird to hear after, that this minor-the daughter-, was raped by the person she was to deliver bread too. As if that was not shocking enough, apparently they don’t want the guy or this story to be publicized because the culprit is a 500-level student and they wouldn’t want him rusticated after spending 5 years excluding strike in the university. Raping a minor begs the question are there not ashewo’s in Bodija again, some of which, I daresay are UI students? But hey we’re not judging.

             
             Many other questions are spiraling at this point: was the mother paid off? Is money worth putting over scarring your daughter for life? Or is it a mother's compassion for another mother’s son? Should this story not be talked about because of the consequences if Abefele hears? Should we ignore and not talk about rape openly just as the society encourages? Or should the culprit be instantly reported to Abefele?
